Paint!! Yes, paint and not meatballs! The love buggians and I had a play date scheduled this morning and I always get a little worried since our actual space for play is pretty small! So I try to organize some activities - today it was painting with spaghetti! I first saw the idea on Instagram - love, love , love Instagram! Meri Cherry has the most beautiful feed - she's a private art teacher in LA. You can see the post here - it was actually her co-worker's idea! Genius! And so fun!! https://www.instagram.com/p/BDlucvfR_Op/?taken-by=mericherryla
So the issue for me was rubber bands!! The buggians love rubber bands and they are probably under the couch or in their secret hiding places but not in the drawer in the kitchen! So again, on Instagram I saw Emily from Discovering Our Toddler use pipe cleaners I thought GENIUS!! She had the great idea of using them for an added sensory experience - mine were purely functional! I needed the bunches to stay together! So the boiling began. I was in the kitchen alone - which is a RARE moment!! So of course with ten idle minutes I needed to fill them by cleaning the counters - I left my pot with my brushes neatly rested on the side of the pot.
But when I went to check on them they slid into the water! I thought they were ruined but this mistake actually worked to my advantage. Dipping briefly in the boiling water fused the handle together beautifully and made it all that more difficult for my love buggians to eat (which one did try to do!) but easy to hold! Yes! I added a bit of oil to the boiling water and once they were fully cooked, I set them out on a plate and drizzled more oil to prevent sticking!
And here they are painting with spaghetti! So awesome! Thank you to all the creativity and inspiration I find on Instagram!!
And my oldest created the letter S for the first letter in his name. So if any pieces of your brush break off, include it in the art!!
